36 // THE FUTURE
BUILDING FOR A BRIGHTER FUTURE
In March 2023, Colquitt County voters decisively approved the continuation of the Education Special Purpose
Local Option Sales Tax (E-SPLOST), securing the funding pipeline for major school facility upgrades. This critical
one-cent sales tax will be collected from 2023 through 2028, ensuring every penny goes directly to capital projects —
not salaries or operations.
The 2023-2028 E-SPLOST plan is focused on four transformative projects that address student growth, educational
pathways, and facility modernization across the district.
Capital projects total
$31.5 million.
New Agriculture Facility
& Canning Plant
The district invested in a state-of-the-art
complex across from Colquitt County High
School to support hands-on learning and
career pathways.
Ag Facility (21,826 sq.ft.)
Designed to house animals, providing crucial
access for students who participate in livestock
shows but may not have the land or means at
home.
Canning Plant (9,154 sq.ft.)
A new resource for food science and
preservation education.
Colquitt County High School
Classroom Addition
To improve student flow and centralize high
school education, CCHS received a significant
expansion.
16-classroom addition (18,000 sq.ft.)
To accommodate all 9th-grade students
on the main campus.
